Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are
GP CQC Ratings (gpcqcratings.co.uk) is a website that publishes Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection ratings for GP surgeries in England. The site is operated as an independent publication and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the CQC.
For the purposes of UK data protection law, "we", "us", and "our" refers to the operator of this website. If you have any privacy-related queries, please contact us via the details at the end of this policy.
2. Data We Collect
We do not run user accounts, contact forms, or any mechanism that collects your personal data directly.
The following data may be collected passively when you visit this site:
- Analytics data — We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first analytics service. It does not use cookies and does not fingerprint individual users. It collects aggregate data such as page views, referall sources, and country-level visitor counts. No personal identifiers are stored. See Cloudflare's privacy policy at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
- Server logs — Cloudflare may log standard server request data (IP address, user agent, request URL) as part of its infrastructure. These logs are retained for a limited period for security purposes and are governed by Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
- Cookie consent preference — If you interact with our cookie
consent banner, a small cookie (
cc_cookie) is stored in your browser to remember your choice. This is strictly necessary and does not contain personal data. - Advertising cookies (if applicable) — If display advertising (e.g. Ezoic) is active on this site, advertising partners may set their own cookies subject to your consent choices. See Section 5 for full details.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we process the limited data described above on the following bases:
- Legitimate interests — Aggregate analytics to understand how content is used and improve the site, and server security logging.
- Consent — Non-essential advertising or analytics cookies, where applicable, are set only after you provide consent via our cookie banner.
- Strictly necessary — The consent preference cookie is set without requiring separate consent as it is technically necessary to operate the consent mechanism itself.
4. CQC Data
The GP ratings data displayed on this site is sourced from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and is published under the Open Government Licence v3.0 . This data contains no personal data relating to site visitors. Practice names, addresses, and ratings are public information.
5. Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. Here is a full list of cookies this site may set:
| Cookie name | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cc_cookie | Stores your cookie consent preferences | Strictly necessary | 6 months |
| Ezoic / advertising cookies | Personalised advertising and analytics. Only set if you accept marketing cookies. | Marketing / Analytics (consent required) | Varies (up to 13 months) |
Cloudflare Web Analytics does not set any cookies.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the footer of this page, or by clearing your browser's cookies.
6. Third-Party Links and Affiliate Partners
This site contains links to third-party websites including affiliate partners offering private GP services, health insurance, and legal services. When you click an affiliate link, the destination site may set its own cookies governed by its own privacy policy. We encourage you to read those policies before providing any personal data.
We earn a commission when you complete a qualifying action via our affiliate links. See our Affiliate Disclosure for full details.
7. Data Retention
We do not maintain a database of visitor personal data. Any data held by our infrastructure providers (Cloudflare) is governed by their own retention policies, typically a maximum of 30 days for access logs.
8. Your Rights Under UK GDPR
As a UK resident, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to erasure — Request deletion of your personal data.
- Right to rectification — Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Right to restrict processing — Ask us to limit how we use your data.
- Right to object — Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent — Withdraw consent for cookie-based processing at any time via the cookie banner.
Given that we collect no direct personal data from visitors, most of the above rights primarily apply in relation to any data held by Cloudflare on our behalf. To exercise your rights or make a complaint, please contact us (see Section 10).
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
9. Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be indicated by the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
