How to Change Your GP in Brighton
You are free to register with any GP surgery in England — you do not need to live within a practice's catchment area, though some practices may restrict registrations to local patients. Here's how to switch:
- Find a practice that is accepting new patients (contact them directly or check the NHS GP finder).
- Complete the practice's registration form — either online or in person. You will not need a referral from your current GP.
- Your medical records will be transferred automatically from your previous practice. This usually takes a few weeks.
- You do not need to formally de-register from your old practice — your registration will be removed once you complete registration elsewhere.
